Irish Stones pub is a favourite with Erasmus as a meeting point at the beginning of a night out. Cafe Boulevard was one of my favourites, Gallerias de Urquijo for nightlife was brilliant fun. Also Congreso, Conjunto clubs and Casco Viejo bars are great. Events; carnival around feb/march in Bilbao and surrounding area, San Fermin and the running of the bulls in summer, not to be missed. St Patrick's day was celebrated to the full in the Irish Stones. Also take a trip to the Guggenheim museum, interesting stuff there!

Dubliners was a great place to have a drink and they made a special effort to create events that allowed the Erasmus kids, the US students, and the locals. Getxo was a great city to escape to by metro. It had the best cafe's and fantastic window shopping.

Centre: El Soplete (good place to start drinking) Las Galerias (party gallery filled with discos) Old City: Melilla y Fez (best Tapas ever) Beach Sopelana - nice waves for surfers, good bars to party

Kafe Antxiokia was teh best bar overall; lots of nice bars in the Galerias in Indautxu and Casco Viejo, of course!

The fiestas are always good fun and there are always pleny of holidays (carnaval etc).
