You have to attend the "Curso para extranjeros" en september or februari organized by the university for international students. The best way to learn the language and get to know the other students.

Course recommendations
Pretty easy to negociate with the teachers to get a special "erasmus" exam. Don't be afraid of them, they are nice.

Alcohol is really cheap (out of the bars). In the bars, it's really really really expensive. I called home by the Internet, and used to travel quite a lot.
