Universidad de Oviedo (UNIOVI)

Oviedo is a great place to go if you REALLY want to learn the language. Most of the local people and stores, DON'T know English, so you are forced to speak spanish all the time--which is the BEST way to learn. Other more touristy places in spain that we traveled to, as soon as a local thought that you were American, they would speak English to you, which at times you were thankful for, but it didn't allow you to practice and struggle through situations that would make you better at Spanish.

To learn or improve your spanish the best thing would be meet a lot of spanish people,they're really nice and friendly people and you can learn thing that teachers don't teach at class ;). Meet other students from other country is also really important. Speak spanish as much as possible.

at the beginning the spanish people did not want to understand my southamerican accent, but later i adopt myself and it really worked well. i did not have any problems communicating to people there. because i studied and traveled during 7 month in chile and had just returned from there.

It is very convenient that Spaniards speak bad English if you want to improve your Spanish. That is cause you won't be able to rely on your English knowledge in daily life. Books are availiable in English at the library though.

At the begining i had problems with communication,but after two weeks,i was speaking quite good,without problems,in students enviroment i could learn very fast.No i can use spanish almost like my mother tongue.

I had only studied a little bit of Spanish before arriving, but I picked it up VERY quickly, due to the combination of classes, a boyfriend from Argentina, a Spanish host mom and watching a LOT of TV.
