The exams are pretty laid back. Not as strictly organised as in England - can make taking it seriously hard!

Languages
Language of instruction: Spanish
Was learning Spanish a key decision factor?
No, it wasn't.
How much did you improve your Spanish?
My level before: Everyday knowledge (shopping, directions, etc.)
My level after: At ease in most situations
Language difficulties
Administrative / Institutional
Personal comments
I feel that my language would have improved better and more quickly had it been easy to integrate more easily with the local Spanish students.
Howver, this was hard in Salamanca, as the local students are very tight knit.
Learnt a lot though with my European friends, and we all spoke spansih to eachother.

Overall
I wish I had known...
In my opinion:
Most people loved it.
Important factors in my choice
(1) Unimportant – (4) Very important
Personal recommendation
Try to make more events to intergrate foreign students with local students. Too many 'Erasmus' student events. Whilst you meet many students from all over Europe, you don't get to mix with the s=Spanish students.

During my experience abroad, I ...
(1) Never – (4) A lot
Became familiar with another culture
Met people from other countries
Experienced a change in life
Advanced my studies & career
Final comments
Do as much travelling as you can. Travel in Spain is really cheap.
The coaches are clean and on tinme.
I personally recommend Barcelona, Seville, Portugal (5 hrs on coach from Salamanca) and Valencia.

Housing:
was less expensive than at home.
Accessibility of student needs
Second-hand household items
Personal comments
The cost of living in Spain is generallya lot cheaper than in England. You can save money on public transport with a 'bono bus' pass. Although walking is what most students use because Salamanca is so small.

Housing
Type of housing: Apartment/House
Arranged by: Independently - I had no other choice
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why?
Living in a house gives you much more independence and freedom. There are no curfews. Especially when you live with other students.

The university's Halls of Residence are very nice and clean. My friend chose to stay in one. Las Residencias as they are called. Salamanca has about 9.
