Don`t just take classes offered in the main university. The University of Sevilla offers many classes offered in other parts of town that are more specific. Try those out! They are usually more interesting.

In order to find housing accomodation and the like, one good place to start is the Pabellon Uruguay which is near the library on Paseo de Colon. There they have tons on info on apts., dance classes, "intercambios", excerise classes, etc.

Housing
Type of housing: With a family
Arranged by: Home university
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why?
When I chose to study abroad in Spain and enhance my Spanish speaking skills, I felt that it was crucial to be immersed into the culture by living with a family. A family will incorporate you into their own and teach you certain things that you would not otherwise be introduced to living alone. I believe that living amongst a family was the best experience in my life at that time. Now that I am older, more mature and responsible, I believe that living in an apartment is more practical when upholding a job.

If you are an American, you will definitely be grouped together with other Americans. There is very little exploration for meeting Spaniards in the university itself.

DOn't be shy about meeting people. If you don't take full advantage of talking to people, you will not have fully experienced this city. The people are extremely interactive and friendly with foreigners.

A great place to begin the acclimation process is to go to some of the larger clubs where you are likely to meet many international students - clubs like Doblon on Thursday nights, Boss or Caramelo on Wednesday nights. After that, I enjoyed spending time with my Spanish friends and going to smaller clubs in the Viapol area, like Sunset and Voule Bar in the evenings. Plaza de Espana (right across from where I lived when I stayed for an extra month in the summer) is still one of my favorite places.

Student life here is unbeatable. It has a great nightlife, the feel of a big city and at the same time the feel of a small town. Everything is wonderful in Sevilla!!!!!!

Buy a cell phone, look for roommates on campus fliers, get an intercambio, rent a car and drive to Portugal, hang out with the locals as much as possible and although it is hard try not to just hang out with Americans.
