Keep track of your money. Use your ATM to take out money or open a Spanish account. US Dollars go much further than Spanish Pesetas. Don't use travelers checks. Many places don't except them.

Housing
Type of housing: With a family
Arranged by: Home university
If returning, I would choose: I would live in an apartment with spanish students
Why?
This would give me the optimum opportunity to speak spanish as well as become familiar with students my age in a different country. I enjoyed my time where I lived but I told myself while I was still there that if I came back that is what I would do.

You absolutely MUST travel while you're there!!! Go for the whole year, and during the winter break, travel through Europe. On weekends, you HAVE to go to Portugal and Morocco! I don't know if it's still there, but B-60 was a fun place for drinking and dancing. Just in general, be ready for a lot of late nights of having fun!!! Don't drink too much, though, because it's just not very classy there.

Personal spending habits
The money that went towards food and accomodation was included in my program fees and supplied by my host family. Basic costs are less involving nightlife and other activities. I would rate travel about the same because I took advantages of more travel opportunities abroad than at home. Using the telephone is more expensive because there is a government monopoly and calling overseas is expensive.

The most you learn from the spanish people, but there were a lot of foreigners which could speake very well, too.At the beginning it was very hard to understand the sevillians and even now itエs nearly impossible when they talk quickly. At the beginnig it was a little bit difficult to get to know native speakers, but when knew some it was great and I learned a lot of the life and the language
