Personal comments
The courses I chose to take placed me directly where I needed to be. I had taken 3 years of Spanish at the University of Texas before arriving to Spain and felt well prepared to speak and understand the language. My classes taught me to feel even more confident communicating with others which proved to be essential in Sevilla. It is hard to differentiate between the material learned in class and the matters learned outside of class. Combined, the proper grammar, the southern accent, and the slang taught me to communicate in the most effective way possible.

Housing
Type of housing: With a family
Arranged by: Home university
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why?
When I chose to study abroad in Spain and enhance my Spanish speaking skills, I felt that it was crucial to be immersed into the culture by living with a family. A family will incorporate you into their own and teach you certain things that you would not otherwise be introduced to living alone. I believe that living amongst a family was the best experience in my life at that time. Now that I am older, more mature and responsible, I believe that living in an apartment is more practical when upholding a job.

The nightlife in Sevilla is completely different than it is in Texas. Plaza Nueva, Plaza de Cuba, and Calle Betis is where many of my memories were made in Sevilla. Cafes surround the town and all are so friendly and joyful. The Cathedral of Sevilla was phenomenal and the Flamenco dancing at Coronita is an experience. The neighborhood of Triana truly displays the personality of Sevilla.
