I enjoyed the Parque del Alamillo which was a beautiful wide open space park on the Isla de Cartuja with lovely walks. I also enjoyed a lovely little Italian restaurant called San Marco in the Santa Cruz region of the city. Then there is the obvious....the cathedral, Plaza de Espana and all the beautiful museums and architecture around the city.

I believe that to efficiently learn a lanuage it is essential to spend time and live in a country where your chosen language is spoke. I would never be able to speak Spanish like I can if I had not spent time living and studying in Spain.
There was very little involvment of the students in classes. Students were not encouraged to expresses their own thoughts on the subject matter. Students were more or less expected to regurgetate information word for word for the exams. I found this manner of teaching did not encourage any independent thinking from the students. I would have liked more class participation.
All living expenses in Spain were cheaper than in Ireland.

No financial surprises other than that everything was significantly cheaper. The only cost saving tip I could give would be not to eat out in tourist areas (city centre, Santa Cruz, all along the river....) because those areas are all more expensive. Also the Mercadona supermarkets tend to be the cheapest.
Nothing really....there was plenty that I didn't know before going but that was part of the experience getting to know a completly different culture.

My overall experience at the University wasn't great. I found that because it was so big and there were so many foreign students, the staff were generally unhelpful. I also found there were little efforts on the part of the University to integrate the foreign students with local students.

I loved Seville. The people were great and it was such a wonderful experience getting to know and be a part of a city and culture that is not my own. A good thing to keep in mind when going to Seville is that the people are very direct. They sometimes say things that would be considered too forward in many cultures. It is important not to mistake that for rudeness....it is just part of their culture.
