Learnt a lot. There are many variations from Mexican Spanish and Castillian Spanish that should be aware of before you go, as I found out when asking a hotel porter where I could have sex with a bus!

Important factors in my choice
(1) Unimportant – (4) Very important
Personal recommendation
UDLA is right in the shadow of Popcatapetal (but within a safe distance!). The view is awesome, particularly first thing and at sunset. The people, local and international students aswell as local people, are some of the friendliest you could ever meet.
The teaching was, without wanting to sound like a geek!, was first class.

Final comments
I can't recomend UDLA and Mexico highly enough. Only one negative, be very careful indeed in Mexico City.
Places to visit, Monte Alban which is just outside Oaxaca was the best, Teotihucan, Palenque, snorkeling/ scuba diving in Cozumel, the Cervatinos festival in Guanajuato was one of the best weekends in my life, Puerto Escondido, the view at the top of Tore Latinoamerica in Mexico City, the Canon del Sumidero to name a few.

La Roca was the main place when I was over there, most were very different to what I was accustomed to, but never the less very good indeed.
Travel was amazing, but be careful! Mexico does have the potential to jump and bite you in the bum!
