If you have the opportunity to make an erasmus exchange, do it. Sometimes it's not easy for everybody but it worth it. We learn a lot about life. And take the advantage of everything (travel (in all the north of Portugal and in the south of course to see beautiful beaches), contacts with local people, ...). Portugal is a good place to make an erasmus exchange because in the university of Fernando Pessoa, we work pretty much. So it's a good balance between fun and work.

The old Porto is very nice to drink sth. You can go near the ocean (Foz da Luz) too. To go out, to go dancing, they is good places in Matosinhos. Porto is a very beautiful city with a lot o monuments or places to visit. You can take a guide book and be a tourist for some days... The cities near Porto are interesting too.

I think it is pretty good. Rooms are clean and comfortable. Cost is not too expensive and also you have cleaning ladies. So it is pretty comfortable to stay at university's residance.

Personal comments
No, I think not. I just recommend to the future erasmus students to stay more with the "local" students, it helps. To stay with the erasmus students it's good but to be integrated with all the portugueses students, it's better. I didn't do this. And I regret.

Personal comments
I made a student exchange in Brasil in 98-99. So I was speaking portuguese before to go in Erasmus. I choose Portugal because I didn't need to learn the language before to go there. But it was difficult to understand the teachers and sometimes to understand portuguese people because they have a different accent.
