All the students had to find their accommodation independently - which wasn´t that easy, because nobody had the knowledge in the foreign language portuguese at the moment of arriving in lisbon. There were no special student-apartments on the campus or help from the university.

All my erasmus collegues lived in appartments with other erasmus students or with portugese people. An advantage of living with portugese people is the possibility of practicing the language more than living with erasmus students.
if you have any questions concerning the classes go to the teachers, they are very nice and help you

you are exchange student and you have all the exams at the end of the semester, the last week where all the people and your new friends are together, make smaller exams also during semester, that not everything of your grade is the final exam

Portuguese is a very diccicult language to learn for foreigners. Reading and writing is not so much the problem as is speaking and understanding the local people. But most people are very patient and eager to help so in the end the communication barriers can easily be resolved. Most young Portuguese speak English quite well.

Find an appartment when you arrive. In my opinion this works better than arranging things on forehand. This gives you the opportunity to physically visit the place and see how you feel with it.

At Faculdade de Economia, Universidade Nove de Lisboa courses are - in general - taught in Portuguese. However, most courses for exchange students aer in English.
This way, studying was easier for me - but of course my Portuguese would have improved much more if I had taken courses in Portuguese.
