it's not very easy to get into the portuguese language. but it's worth doing it! people in the north of portugal are very friendly, so its nice to speak with them in their language. the most important: to know portuguese opens you the door to brasil!

to have the sea near porto was excellent. go to lisbon, traval to évora and the alentejo and go definitely to watch a football game. it's quite easy to get in touch with local people. and if they are friendly to you they really mean it. just the opposite of the united states...

go to Ribeira, the old city. you'll find plenty of places to have a beer. don't miss the "instituto do vinho do porto" at palacio cristal. there are also some hot night spots at foz.
