Personal comments
The Italian language course offered by the university is exceedingly good. When I first came to Bergamo, I literally could not utter more than a few words (such as "hello" and "good morning", which does not serve much in an elaborate conversation). When the course finished, I was amazed by the knowledge I have gained thoughout these 5 months (even though I had very little contact to native students).

“My stay at the University of bergamo has been even better than expected!”

Italy,

Overall
The university of bergamo has always been helpful to the students, even at the most difficult times, such as during covid pandemic. Professors are very competent and have always respected the instructions given in the respective modules. They are also very kind and available for any questions.

Careers
The university various opportunities available to students starting with study or work placement experiences abroad.
Last year I took part in an Erasmus project in Manchester, which was a wonderful experience that enriched me both linguistically and, above all, personally. the secretary for international programmes helped us with the choice of courses and was always available whenever we needed help.

Academic
Course recommendations
Although I had some super teachers (Roberta teaching Italian and Mercedes teaching Spanish) the universtiy was quite unorganised and didn't cater well for international students meaning that our language classes clashed with lots of other courses. Therefore we had very limited options and I found myself quite bored a lot of the time!

Personal comments
The university takes a very informal approach to Erasmus students and despite some super teachers I didn't learn as much as i wanted to.

Housing
Type of housing: Apartment/House
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why?
I would have prefered to live in halls but none exist in Bergamo. The universtiy tend to put foreign students in the same flats as others from their own university so you end up speaking your mother tongue rather than learning Italian. I'd consider living with a family to get a true taste of Italy although I know people who had problems with this.

Personal comments
The university do help you organise it but it tends to be low quality accomodation with people from your own uni.
