Why? Although the first experience with the appartements was not perfect I still will prefer to look for an appartment instead of living in one of the rooms which are provided by the university. I consider pivacy and space as very impaortant. I do have the learning experience as I know now which areas I would like to live in Milan and know more people so it will be easier to find something which suits me.
Personal comments:
What I have heard from the other students who did live in the accomodations of the university is that they lack the privacy and space. There is no possibility to cook in your own space and you cannot have any guests staying the night. The advantage is that someone cleans your room.

Why? In my second term i shared an appartment with italian students and found this much more beneficial.
Personal comments:
Location was superb- within 2 mins walk of university. Accommodation was very basic - no kitchens, communal mixed-sex bathrooms that were not always clean; 5 showers shared among over 30 people. The university does have other and better equipped accommodation in other parts of the city further from the university. Security is quite strict and visitors are not generally permitted.

Why? More independency and possibilities to have your own place where to invite friends.
Personal comments:
There are too many students in this university, so the housing system through the university is complicated. I personally did not find anything through the university system, what is more, I found it quite chaotic. If you are to use it you should have a look in advance and make sure you are staying for a reasonable amount of time (one year better than just a term).

Why? It is a good way to live on with other international students on your own, in another country. It makes for a more immersive experience, just blending right int to the culture
Personal comments:
There were not many choices for me going to study at Bocconi, in finding accomodations. I showed up at the university for language class, staying in a hotel for two weeks while I was figuring out where to live. A little aggravating, but a great learning experience.

Why? My dormitory room was pretty ascetic. My friends found some nice apartments with the help of the school and some student organizations. Unfortunately, they were more expensive as well.
Personal comments:
I appreciated the fact that my room was cleaned every day - it was included in the relatively cheap price of the accomodation. I enjoy cooking and there were no cooking facilities or refrigerators in the rooms or in common areas.

Why? While studying in Milan I had the opportunity to live with two Italian undergraduates. I think this experience allowed me to truly understand and appreciate all aspects of the language and culture.
Personal comments:
The housing for some students was impeccable. Unfortunately my apartment was extremely small and slightly dirty. However, these things did not stop me from enjoying my time with my two amazing, Italian roommates.

Why? Bocconi graduate housing is expensive, not conveniently located and has a curfew for guests!
Personal comments:
See above. The Spadolini residence, which is open to graduate students is a good 10 minute walk through a deserted part of town and a park. Ovrenight guests are not allowed, suites of rooms have no decent common area and there are no freezers in the kitchens. On the plus side, the balconies are nice.

Why? Because you have the chance of sharing experiences, habits and cultural backgrpunds with other people. It´s easier to find. Not so expensive.
Personal comments:
I know Bocconi housing goes from normal to luxury. It can be very expensive for the services offered. The good point is proximity with university.

Accommodation was ok, but what was offered through the host university was a bit limited. Lots of people had to find an appartment on their own.

I really disrecommend the pensionato of the university; it´s old, there´s no kitchen and it´s kind of expensive: actually it´s a shithole
