Pourquoi?

I found a perfect apartment in the sixième arrondissement with 2 French students and 1 other American student. I very much enjoyed that apartment, and got along well with my housemates.

Housing wasn't provided by the university, so we had to find our own apartments. The search was troublesome at first because of the language barrier, but in the end, I found a great place.

Buying cell phone credit was expensive (about 100 euros a 1 1/2 months); I experienced more of the nightlife than I do at home; being in Europe, I traveled more.

Perhaps invest in a cell phone plan instead of buying mobicartes for phone credit. Otherwise, any cost-saving tips you apply at home would suffice in France.

Most of the courses I took had one final grade, and as a foreign student, it is hard to have a grade based solely on one final exam. Also, it can be hard to make friends in class because all French students take the same classes in their major and form friendships beginning in their first year of university.

The university was reasonable. The problem is that it went on a 2 month long strike at one point during my stay which affected my classes and my grades.

My understanding of the French language was fluent before I studied in Lyon, but my speaking skills were not as good. I think that I really improved my speaking skills by being able to interact with students, and by being forced to speak with others in my day-to-day activities.
