I studied french language at my home university for two years before I did the exchange, so I had not many problems with language and communication. Still I learned a lot during that year!
Before doing the exchange I lived with my parents so I didn't spend anything for food and housing.

Next to the campus, Avenue Gabriel Peri, there are two very cheap supermarkets, Ed and Lidl. And whenever you show your student card, you'll have a reduction on anything: public transport, sport, shops, hairdresser etc.
The French love signatures and official stamps. It takes a whole day to collect all the necessary documents signed and stamped by official people just to open a bank account. But once all the paperwork is done, everything is ok for the rest of the year.

Courses in France are a bit different than in the Netherlands. The teacher talks a lot and the students write a lot, we didn't use books. It's like being at school instead of being at university. Nevertheless, most courses I took were very interesting.

I'd like to study more independently: with books or readers and a study program and the teacher introducing new subjects, explaining difficult stuff and answering questions. I liked the exams throughout the courses, because it prepares you better for the real exam.
