The cinema 'Kinopolis' is good but going out in Mulhouse at night is not for the faint hearted. The atmosphere in the town is very hostile and the clear tensions between the 'white' and 'non-white' communities are at a head on weekend nights.

Dire, truly horrific. Shared toilets for males and females. Only two working toilets for a floor of 40 students, and similarly one very small kitchen for 40 rooms. 1 washing machine and 1 dryer for the c.a. 160 students in the hall. Security very poor, one of the ressidents was running a barbour shop in the common room with 'clients' coming from other parts of town for a haircut. Atomosphere at night very intimidating with serious concerns for female ressidents. Random males would regularly knock on girls doors late in the evening claiming to have met at some previous time.

It was hard to find contact with French students. They tended to want to keep to themselves and out of the 160 people in my halls of ressidence only 2 were French.

Mulhouse is 15km from Germany and 30km from Switzerland so use the location to our advantage and travel. Get yourself a 'Carte 12-25' to save cash with SNCF.
