Housing
Type of housing: Apartment/House
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why?
Freedom to come and go as please was a major plus point. One aspect I would change, however, would be to share with Italian students to necessitate more regular language practice.

The housing agency that the Erasmus Student Association at Verona University had links with were unreliable and have so far failed to return any of the huge deposit we left at the start of the year. They are called "For Sale" and are best avoided! The appartment was basic in every way but we enjoyed the year due to it's location 2 minutes walk from the uni and just 5 minutes from the city centre. Also became close friends with the Italian, Spanish, Irish and other British Erasmus students living in the same block.

Housing
Type of housing: Apartment/House
Arranged by: Independently - I had no other choice
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why?
There is no campus at Verona and a flat gives you the freedom that you wouldn't get in a family. A flat share with Italian students allows you to improve your language skills, and even if you live with other english speakers the chances for talking italian are so great that it is not a problem.

As my flat was found independently through an agency I don't know much about accomodation. The ESN here are very helpful at the beginning of the year I believe, but by the time we came in February there was little available.

If returning, I would choose: On campus
Why?
Great way to meet other international and Italain students. Therefore it is a great way to improve your ability of the italian language. On campus was also cheaper than renting an appartment and the facilities were excellent.

All accomodation is located near the university and are generally around the €200ppm for rent. All have good facilities.

This year the university set up a group of people to help to find accomodation, therefore it shoud be better organised in the following years. It is however hard for foreigners in Italy to get treated the same as locals. In general the rent is higher.

With so many Italian students living at home, there is less of a community environment than eg. at British Universities.
