Housing
Type of housing: Apartment/House
Arranged by: Independently - My choice
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why?
I found living in a private flat gave me more impetus to mix with rela live Germans and get to know what life is really life in Germany, rather than the rather shallow typical Erasmus/exchange student exxperience.

Personal comments
He Wilhelmshöhe area is lovely, so are many of the sourrouding suburbs and villages. Don´t be put off by the inner city. Make use of the Semester ticket (unlimited travel within North Hesse for a once-off price). The museams and theatres are quite good.

Do more courses than you have to. There are many courses you would´t have a chance to do at home. It´s worth checking out other departments too.

(1) Unimportant – (4) Very important
Personal recommendation
While living on campus is cheap and handy, you won´t really get much of a chance to experience wha life is really like in Kassel.

Final comments
The town doesn´t make a great first impression, but make an effort to get to know it properly. I gave up too soon! The uiversity is really great, very modern, well laid-out, right in the city-centre. The staff here are are a bit more involved with their students than in other German universities.

Rent- very good surprise! Surprisingly possible to live from part-time jobs, i.e. waitressing, call-centre work.
