The nightlife in Alicante is much more than had been first anticipated. The size of the city in comparison to the insane nightlife do not match up. Everyone goes out to El Barrio around 12 midnight. El Barrio consists of over 150 bars in approximately a 5 block radius. After El Barrio, everyone heads to El Puerto, the port which is right on the meditteranean. This usually happens between 4-5 in the morning. You end up going home around 7 in the morning. I would say that would constitute an incredible nightlife. My favorite clubs/bars include Astronomo, El Misión, and Mulligan´s. And now for comida, a wonderful, wonderful mexican restaurant is Cactus. I recommend the chicken fajitas and the strawberry margaritas, guaranteed to be the best you´ve ever had. I hate superlatives, but it is no lie. A wonderful place to grab some tapas is Lezarron. Amazing and ladies there are some cute waiters there.

There are many outdoor cafes on Las Ramblas or on the side streets where I went on the weekends and was able to meet and become friends with people from other European countries. My favorite cafe/resteraunt is called Carpe Diem and the owners became some of my best friends and taught me about Spanish culture and business etiquette. The city of Alicante is very vibrant and a great place to live and experience the Spanish lifestyle.

The ole town in Alicante is really the place to be at nighttime followed by the puerto in the early hours of the morning. La Guarida was one of my favourite bars in the old town. There's also a really nice tapas restaurant in the old town, sorry i can't remember the name! DO not miss the Moros y Cristianos processions in any of the surrounding villages, they're amazing and also take a trip to Granada, its a stunning city.

There are innoumerous bars (mixture of pub and discos) in downtown which is calles barrio in Alicante. The are bars for every taste and you do not have to pay entry. They are all next to each other so you just go there,listen from outside or just enter and chose. At about 4 in the morning all people move to the harbour (5minutes walk) where the party goes on in about 20 other discos.

Mulligans Bar targeting Erasmus student is always a good place to meet many international students. Join AEGEE and attend language exchange meeting (German-French-Italian-English-Spanish-Japonese-Chinese are the most common languages). Cisne bar - an amazing tapas bar - go for the cisne tapeo Do go to the shopping centres - plaza mar 2, San vicente etc - they are so much more convenient than the shopping street and air conditioned/ heated throughout The cinema - excellent for testing your language skills there are 2 castles in the city, one is the most obvious - and has to be climbed as a matter of principal.....the other is not so obvious - just a few walls - but behind these there is quite a significant sports and leisure development that is worth a look!
