Improving my skills in norwegian was one of my motivation to go to Bergen. Therefor I followed an intensiv language course during the first semester and chose some university courses in Norwegian during the second semester. I did improve my norwegian but did not have enough opportunities to speak with nativ speakers, most of my friends being exchange students as well.

The course for learning Norwegian was not worth attending, which I thought was a great pity since I wanted to learn the local language. Communication in English helped enlarge my vocabulary.

You don't need to know any word of norwegian to live in Norway. Most of the people are fluent in English. The university has language courses which get filled up quite quickly.

It was very interesting because I had the opportunity to practice English and to learn Norwegian. Now I like this language a lot and I´m learning more.

even thought i don't speak any Norwegian, most people speak at least a little English so it wasn't a problem to get around

everybody speek english....but it better if you ...snakke norsk...because you can get in touch more easily with the locals
