Personal comments
The Scottish accent takes a while to learn to listen but is really not that difficult to understand. Excluding some (older) locals, I really had no trouble with the language.

Personal spending habits
Everything is quite expensive, even food if you wish to eat healthily. In terms of nightlife, I did go out about town way much more than I would back home. As for housing, I paid for my 6 student flat on campus approximately the same amount as I did for a flat of my own (30m2) in the center of Turku...

Traveling eats up a lot of money, if you're not careful. The again, the main point is to see as much as you can. If you can afford it, go for it!

Overall
I wish I had known...
There's quite a lot of Finnish people in here both as exhange students and those doing an entire degree. Not entirely a bad thing but one might end up hanging too much in ones own company. Then again, that is what generally happens with every nationality.

Housing
Type of housing: On campus
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why?
Hillhead is crammed with youngish(17-18 year olds) students who realy like to party. If that's your goal, Hillhead is your place, if you prefer to live with a little more mature students, a flat from somewhere else will be better(and cheaper, is most cases)

Personal comments
Housing was rather okay, considering. The campus flats are quite old and rather run down. Rooms are a little cold during the winter but the staff is very friendly and helpful and overall its not too bad.
