Goover to the Mission in San Francisco. It's only 30 minutes on the BART, and you can eat excellent Mexican food (at Puerto Allegre on Valencia) or get blind drunk (Dalva on 16th). Also, Place Pigalle in the Hayes Valley is amazing.

Housing
Type of housing: Apartment/House
Arranged by: Independently - I had no other choice
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why?
Despite the high cost of housing in Berkeley, it's still far better to live off campus, especially if you are older than the freshers: the age gap is far greater in terms of experience across cultures.

Get involved in San Francisco. It's easy to stick to just the East Bay, and leave it at that.

No problems, other than an odd blind spot Americans seem to have when it comes to understanding 'tuna' and 'cheese' in a British accent.
