UC San Diego is one of nine campuses that make up the University of California system. Founded in 1960, UCSD is a coeducational, State-supported research institution. UCSD is located atop the bluffs overlooking the Pacific Ocean, in a 1,976-acre park-like setting, in La Jolla, 12 miles north of the City of San Diego.
