As a part of the S.I.T. curriculum we were required to learn the language of our host families, which was Xhosa. It was phenomenal, and something that allowed me to connect on such a greater level with many South Africans.

I suppose if you know how to speak Afrikaan, you might have an easier time figuring stuff out, but seriously English is perfectly fine. You learn how everything works within the first few weeks!

Go into Cape Town and EXPLORE! Be safe, but go there and play a lot! The hiking is amazing, and the local student clubs are all fun. Join as many as possible
