I had no trouble communicating with other students there. The South Africans are open people and a pleasure to talk to. They always make you feel welcome and English is the common language there, although a little bit of Afrkiaan is to your advantage if you really want to impress the ladies!

Everyone on campus can speak english so it was not so difficult to communicate with others. Also there are a wide number of foreign students on campus. Some people in the City spoke only their native tounge and poor english but with gestures then it is quite simple to figure out what they are trying to say. There is always someone willing to help.
