Well, not much choice in Durham itself but Newcastle is just 12 minuts away. Worth the hassle

The housing provided by the University was of very high quality. The only con was the location - close to the department but far from the city centre

Final comments
There are plenty things to explore in the area - everybody should go North - Berwick, Holy Islands and so on. Plenty fab spots just around Durham. Don't miss Newcastle - one of the prettiest cities ever stayed in. Also don't stick with students only - local community is worth exploring and making friends with. Won't regreat.
