Alojamiento
Tipo de alojamiento: dormitory
Organizado por: Universidad de intercambio
Si volviera, eligiría: dormitory
¿Por qué?
The dorm was nice to live, as most of the foreign students (CESP) students were staying here. Having contact with other foreign people was really easy.

Comentario personal
Accomodation was pretty good overall.
Each student had to share a room with another student. The facilities in the room, however, were described better as they actually were.
Room in the dormitory includes: bathroom with toilet, a tiny kitchen and a living area, including two beds and two desks.
Since the costs of living is not high, the things necessary could be bought there rather than taken from home.

Comentario personal
In Prague there are a lot of things to be seen. Visiting places (like the castle, churches; the different areas in Prague) took up a lot of my time, but there are still things left to be seen when I come back to this city.
Favourite spot: RadostFX.
Radost is a mix of (my favourite) restaurant (vegetarian), a pub and a disco. Not to be missed.
The different jazz clubs are absolutely something to go to. Really relaxed atmosphere.

Valoración global
Si lo hubiera sabido...
Only the living situation. If I had known that all the things that were said to be there, weren't there, I would have brought those instead of having to buy them there.

En mi opinión:
A la mayoría les gustó.
Factores imporantes para mi elección
(1) Sin importancia – (4) Muy importante
Recomendación personal
The CESP programme for foreign students is a bit to easy when studying at university level.
This is according to the people involved to support the people that want to travel most of the time and to help them pass the courses.
A bit surprising is that people who do make an effort can receive the same grades as people that are hardly ever in class and do the work at the last minute.

Comentarios finales
When coming to Prague the first time, it is helpful to bring a small phrasebook and a book about the city/country to help you find your way a bit better.
The university also helps you with this aspect by giving a tour of Prague and you can also be assigned to a personal buddy that can help you settle in and arrange accomodation etc.
This is especially helpful the first couple of days when everything is new.
The buddy is Czech and hence is the perfect opportunity to meet and socialize with a Czech person.

Estudios
Recomendaciones de cursos
The teachers all took into account that most foreign students do not primarily come to study, but to travel a lot.
Therefore, courses were not hard to pass at all.
If you're looking for a challenge, this is not the best place to go.
However, if you want to see Europe, this is a good place to go.

Idiomas
Comentario personal
Since English is only taught for about ten years in Czech schools, communication with older people is really hard.
But with hands and feet and a few basic Czech sentences, you'll come a long way.
The students' and professors' English is, considering, pretty good.

Costumbres personales de gasto
Since Prague is located in Central Europe, is was the perfect place to travel from to countries such as Austria, Slovakia, Poland, Germany and Hungary. Also, travelling by train under 26 gives right to a discount.
Accomodation and food is cheaper than at home, although the prices are higher in high season.
Nightlife including dinners, movies etc. is so much cheaper than at home, that it is tempting to do it a lot.

Comentario personal
I was aware of the expenses I had.
I kept a little book which listed most of my expenses, to keep track of where my money went.
Prague is not the most expensive place to live, but travelling does cost some extra money.
