I am a bit sad since I was hoping to live with english people and learn a lot more english. Instead I lived with french and italian people who hardly new any english at all. So they imporoved alot more than I did.

Especially communication with other ERASMUS students was excellent. Language of instruction was sometimes hard to follow, but you could cope with it. Some Spanish students however, had more severe problems.

If one is well versed with English and is confident enough to speak out and make yourself understandable, then the people here don't really look at the language difference as a big issue

Since the United Kingdom speaks English, I did not have a language barrier. Communication was however much different in England that it is in the United States.

I live in The Netherlands however my studies are in English. Hence I did not have had problem with English language while study in University of Hertfordshire

In the lecture we only had possibility to listen but I was lucky to meet nice people to practise English after lecture and in the evenings. The good thing was that they were no native english speakers so in the first time we communicate with hand and foot. But after a while it was working quite well and everybody was improoving. Native speakers never would have had the pation to listen to a foreigner with bad language skills...
