Housing
Type of housing: Apartment/House
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why?
I enjoyed the housemates that I ended up living with and since I am not a first year student, this was definitely a better arrangement than living in the halls. I lived in a non-student neighbourhood and still had all the conveniences of living near to practically everything.

No problems....Hull dialect is a bit hard to understand at first but, it becomes easy fairly quickly.

I wish I had known...
It would have been helpful to know a little more upon arrival about the academic system here in the UK. It's a lot different from the American system and you're completely on your own to find out what's going on...it's easy to be completely clueless as to what you're meant to be doing.

Final comments
Although it's not the most beautiful city in England (and a bit rough in parts), there are plenty of things in Hull (clubs, societies, nightlife, etc.) to make studying here a worthwhile experience. Unless you join activities or live with British students, it is hard to meet local students and many will find that they meet more international students than anyone else. The key is joining the uni social clubs and societies to really get to know British students.
