I wish I had known...
A bit more about my thesis subject (where to search) so that I would have lost less time.

The assistance provided for the international students is tremendous. The location isn't really ideal regarding the weather but it's a lively city which represents England at its best. It's easy reaching distance of Scotland and Ireland which are superb places as well.

Diversity is the name of the game

Overall
The University of Manchester truly impresses when it comes to the diversity of its students. With 40,000 students a year, 25% are international students and that makes for a studying experience like no other. My undergraduate degree in Politics, Philosophy and Economics, allowed me to get exposed to many professors and topics that I would have never imagined of covering throughout my time in the UK. Crucially however, one of the best aspects of the university was being able to mingle with the wide range of international students from each of those disciplines. If you are looking for a fulfilling university experience, Manchester is the place to go.

Pros
A true international university with one of the largest student societies in Europe
Cons
The city itself may be considered to be too small for some, and this may prove to be something to consider.

An involving and challenging university experience in an exciting and stimulating city

Overall
The three years I spent at the  University of Manchester provided me with an indispensable experience as a Mathematics undergrad and as part of the student community . During my mathematics course I was able to specialist in specific areas subject to my own personal preference and given expert teaching and direction.
The city has much to offer by way of culture and events, which meant it was the perfect place to develop oneself outside of the teaching environment and meet a great set of people in a captivating student environment.

If you go to England try to see Scotland:it's marvellous! In England it's very easy for students to find a part-time job.

Overall
Courses provided by the university for my degree were amazing in their variety and delivery. Teachers were clearly passionate about their respective subjects and enjoyed sharing their knowledge and experience with us. University campus is one of the most welcoming places I have ever been to, and also one of the most versatile places I have ever been to. Thanks to the hundreds of student societies there is always something there for anyone to do, regardless of your interests.

I wish I had known...
That manchester is the rainiest city in England would have made me think twice. Also if I had known how expensive and polluted it was over here I would have chosen somewhere else--like Puerto rico or hawaii. I am suffering from seasonal disorder and poverty over here.

It is a quick Masters degree compaired to most programs in the USA. So that is effeicient--but, if you want real specialisation stay at home.

Save lots of money before coming. Bring lots of sweaters. Prepare to depend on public transport--it is truly a good experience to be car-free for awhile--everyone should at least try it for the earth's sake. I recommend a trip to the lake district and a trip down to glastonbury for beautiful country side and warm friendly people.
