I wish I had known...
Yes. I wish I had known that the University of Melbourne charges the most out of all the educational institutions in the world while providing the least. I will go to Columbia next year because the cost of tuition is the same and the student faculty ratio is 1-6 compared to 1-107 in Unimelb.

They need international reforms, they are highly overrated and their tuition is too much for what they actually provide. I could have taken a distance course and learned as much, save for the presence of Jeanette Lawrence and Nick Haslam.

I am posting this not as a vitriolic attack but to help and guide future students who are seriously considering this university. Ask yourself: do you want to be taught at or do you want to be in an environment that promotes ACTIVE learning and inquiry, one that doesn't teach science like a bunch of Creationist adhering to outdated canon. Go to Columbia: for the same amount of money you will be treated better, be exposed to better faculty and you will not be taught primarily by LMS and powerpoint slides.

Strongly, because they really take good care after their international students. It's a beautiful campus, and the university has a lot of prestige.

This is a once in a life time experience. I wish I could have stayed longer, but the money was gone and I had to write my thesis in Holland. If you go studying abroad you should realise it is very difficult to spend as much time studying as you do at home. I spend a lot of time experiencing australia. That was one of the main reasons for doing this whole thing. I think I have succeeded. I fell in love with Australia!

An unforgettable abroad studying experience

Overall
To be able to study in an international well respected University has always been my dream since young. I was so happy that when the university of Melbourne accepted my enrolment application to the final year of the course of Bachelor of Planning and Design (construction management).

The course was well structured by teaching on the fundamental aspects of urban planning, structural design, construction management, construction law etc. We have gathered valuable resources and knowledge during periodical site visits and group projects.

All in all, year 1999 was wonderful year to me. I get to experience the life abroad and mixing with people from different cultures. It has improved my critical thinking skills and broadened my horizon.

Down Under is the perfect place for those willing to prctice / improve their language skills, in a very laid-back enjoyable cosmopolitan (Asian influence) way of life. About Melbourne, it's a terrific liveable city in the crossroads of Europe and the States. You go there and you love it. You leave, and you want only one thing: to go back.
