Good university with supportive professors
Steffi p
Austria, Graduate
Management Science, 2021
Overall
The university courses are a bit too easy, I think they could make it more challenging for masters students. The professors are very supportive and the campus is pretty good. I believe however that they should make more efforts to help masters students feel more involved.

Housing
Type of housing: Apartment/House
Arranged by: Independently - My choice
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why?
The same place as this , for convenience sake . This place located at the heart of the city. College is a 10 minute walk and most other things are very close as well.Considering the location, the rent for the apartment is reasonably cheap, couldn't have asked for more.

Personal comments
Northumbria provides decent housing facilities for students. Though i havent had the experience of living in , but, some of my friends are and they find it very comfortable location wise, facilities and other things. The best thing about university housing is that one gets to meet people from other countries, cultures and gets to learn so much from different people.

Personal comments
Surprises not too many , i was expecting the place to be expensive anyway. cost saving tips include for smokers to get lots of cigaretters from elsewhere as in the UK duty tax is heavy.finding accommodation in the centre of the city for cheap makes travel expenses very less.find the right shops to buy things such as household , food stationary books so on.

Megabus is useful and cheap to travel. Make your money before you come over there. Don't hesitate to talk with the people around you. Don't stay with people of the same nationality as you. Take the time to see what's going on around. Do your thing, and everything is going to be alright.

This is a growing university with a great staff and good facilities. I think, in one or two year, this University may be one of the best in England.

To sum up, I had a great time in Newcastle, which is a student city with a great nightlife. The courses have provided me another point of view of studies ( through doing a dissertation). I advice everybody to enjoy this kind of experience

At the beginning, I had some difficulties to understand the local people and sometime foreign people. Indeed, in the area of Newcastle, locals speak with a strong english accent. Now, i can understand them (mainly) However, it would be better if the Uni would provide us english courses ( for sland, for instance)
