Although I was quite fluent in English before going to New Zealand my level has improved. At the beginning, though, it was sometimes hard to understand the accent that the "kiwis" use as it is very different from the american-english accent that I had mostly heard before.

was quite good but could have been better... the problem is that we shared our time with lots of international students whose first language was not English

At the beginning it was quite hard to understand the kiwi expressions and pronounciation, but after a while you get used to it

they speak so fast and with lots of slangs, but they are so helpful that you enjoy it
