Generally speaking, I did not experience the "Mancunian accent" at all, most people spoke straight forward British English. Sometimes, though, there was a slight accent/dialect, but easily understandable, especially at university level. However, I expected a much bigger improvement of my language proficiency - at the end it did not really improve a lot.

I had to have a TOEFL score of 250/300 in order to be eligible to this ERASMUS program so I had absolutely no problem with the language. The interest of the experience relied for me on discovering the culture and living abroad more than improving my level of English.

Mancunian accent is pretty difficult. It gets really difficult to understand them after some beers in the pub.

Was quite easy to understand teachers at university. However, sometimes I had problems to understand their accent. But you'll get used to it very quickly. By the way, I really like the real Mancunian accent!
