Amazing!! There is so much to do. Try all the clubs, especially Leadmill on Monday. Very good students union with clubnights; cinema; salsa on sunday. Trips to UK cities organised. Pick and choose activities (Give it a Go). Plenty of sports societies. University sports centre. International student activities.

¿Por qué?
Halls of residence are well expensive, but it's the best way to meet English students. Also the common facilities are generally good (bar, computer room, tv rooms, laundrette etc.) and there are parties/activities organised. Everybody is complaining about the food, but cooking everyday is not my idea of fun, so I didn't mind that either.

In my days, Tapton and Sorby sucked. However, Sorby was merged with Earnshaw so it might have improved. Apartments are all close to the Halls (except for Victoria - in the city centre). In case you really can't afford pre-arranged housing, you can go to the message board in the student union. Plenty of rooms offered, but not the best way to immerge in the student life..

Having a conversation in slang, in a busy bar is a lot more difficult than you think. Keep socialising with the Brits, it gets better!

Grocery shops are cheaper than supermarkets! Busses and taxis cheaper, but trains are well expensive. Student clubnights are cheap: Vodka coke for 1.50. Develop your pictures at home. There's a H&M in Meadow Hall. Get a uni sweater at the student's union. Tesco is a relatively cheap supermarket.

Opening a bank account is difficult! Go to NatWest Broomhill. Messageboard in the student union for second hand stuff. IT centres are ussually quite crowded (especially around exams). Try the one at the Economics department, it's a walk but it's open all night.

If you like to meet loads of people and go clubbing every night, than this is the place to be. If you're more into classical music, musea and jazz - try a different university.

Do the introduction week for international students! Don't expect too much from Freshers Week. If you're English is bad, find a language buddy.

All foreign students are in the same English Literature classes, regardless of their level. Stupid. You get graded according to your level though.
