I didn't have any problems with the language. I needed a week to get used to the funny Scottish accent. Don't worry if you are afraid of the Scottish pronunciation since people here are really reall nice and they'll help you all the time.

It depends on your interests. Stirling is a small cozy town. For the nightlife I would go to either Glasgow or Edinburgh.
