Hamilton Gardens is a good place to visit on a sunny afternoon. Favorite cafe would have to be Metropolis. Check out Barzurk for yummy pizza, drinks and dessert.

Personal spending habits
Phones are expensive, but thats probably because I was making more international calls, although they have really good rates for calling to the U.S./Canada. When you account for the exchange rate, the expenses are about the same.

Final comments
Hamilton won't keep you occpied on its own. THere are so many cool things see like Hot Water Beach, Waitamo Caves, Raglan, etc., that are all close to Hamilton, be sure to take advantage of the central location and check it all out. I suggest you see as much of NZ as you can. It may be a small country, but it is packed full with heaps of crazy and beautiful places. I still have a list of things I want to come back and do.
