Final comments
Travelling to York by train can be expensive and I'm sure you'll like to spend some time off campus and out of town (they both can become quite claustrophobic after a while), so buy a Young Person railway card and you'll get 30% off any train ticket.

Try to choose third-year modules... you will find any other choice a bit boring.

You should't miss the Black Swan on wednesday and sunday night... good music (mainly jazz) and plenty of international students.

Housing
Type of housing: On campus
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: On campus
Why?
Staying on campus is surely the best option you have. You're close to everything you need (classrooms above all) and not far from town (5-10 min. by bus).

You should try not to stay in the old colleges if you decide to stay on campus. I recommend you chose Alcuin, James, or Halifax (a bit more isolated). Those buildings are new and comfortable, the other are like dungeons!
