Palacký University feels like a family
Veronika N
Czech Republic,
Sports, 2024
Overall
There are 8 faculties at the university - Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry, Faculty of Arts, Faculty of Science, Faculty of Education, Faculty of Law, Faculty of Health Sciences, Sts Cyril and Methodius Faculty of Theology and Faculty of Physical Culture, where I study. Faculties are kind of autonomous and they differ in some things, which is sometimes interresting to compare. Faculty of Physical Culture provides many fields of study, for example Sports education, Coaching, Sport management, Education in protection of the population, Adapted physical activity, Physiotherapy and Education in leissure activities and sport. Our teachers are very friendly and helpful. They remember our faces and names, so it feels more friendly and promotes mutual trust. My field of study - Leissure and sports is very playfull. We have many practical courses such as skiing and snowboarding, canoeing, climbing, summer nature survival, horse riding and many more, which gives us real memories and we learn, how to survive in discomfort conditions and how to organise courses for our future clients and provide them deep experience. There is also opportunity to sign in to licenced courses beyond basic education, for example Fitness coach, Massage, Health physical education and many more.
Student life in Olomoouc is rich and various. You can visit many sport centers, theatre, cinema, or go to pub for beer or stand up comedy or you can go dancing to a night club. There are sometimes cultural events at the city square.

If You go there for spring semester dont bother to take any kitchen supplies because people that are leaving they just will give it to you.usually fridays are free so you ar able to travel for few days and as Czech Republic is just in the middle of Europe, everything is pretty close to it. And better go Erasmus during fall semester so you acn prolong your stay :]

Make an effort to interact with young locals and never waste anytime. I never napped or sat home...there is always something to do when studying abroad and it should be taken full advantage of or you will regret it.
