Logement
Type de logement: Goshiwon
Organisé par: Indépenant - choix personnel
Si j'y retournais je choisirais: Goshiwon
Pourquoi?
It gives you freedom unlike the dorms. The dorm life is harder because you have less privacy and if you are older (considering I'm sure you don't usually think of studying abroad right away freshman year -like myself-) dorm life isn't really your thing.

My Goshiwon was small but it was just outside of Yonsei and located right by the subway (which is honestly your main source of transportation anywhere in Seoul aside from buses and taxi's coming home from long nights with friends if you didn't spend it in Sinchon)

There are many hasook-ships around Yonsei University. You pay anywhere from 300 to 500 dollars per month which includes home made meals, and laundry service. (Great! The International Dorm at Yonsei has no meal plan, and so when you stay at in a boarding house, you don't have to care about going out to restaurants for food. I like to have my space and freedom, and so boarding house is my choice. However, if it is your first time at Yonsei, stay in the dorm, and then look for a boarding house.

The international and lively atmosphere in the student dormitory (called "I-House") was fantastic. There was always some action going on and you had all the facilities needed to have a good time. In addition to that, it is very close to the New Millennium Hall where most of the classes are being held.

Although everybody had to get used to the quite small rooms and the fact that you even have to share them with a person you didn't know before, the I-House is a very good choice for 1st semester people. Of course you don't get too much privacy, but after all it's only for a semester and you shouldn't be staying in your room too much anyway ;-)

hasookjibs have curfews, and the university housing has a curfew as well... usually at midnight. i figure for just a bit more money, i can get an apartment and stay out as late as i want.

i didn't personally stay there, but when i visited people who did, the housing arrangement was nice. the rooms were smallish (as everything is in seoul) but there are communal tv rooms and kitchens.

Pourquoi?
Was pretty cheap to rent my own spare room from and old couple who were renting out to students. They cooked for me often, and it was of course a great chance to practice the language and learn about the culture.

The dorms are pretty small, kinda costly, and have no elevator either (at least not when I was there).

Other than having to share a dorm room, the dorm itself was clean with many useful facilities, including free use of washer/dryer, free internet access in the room or in the main lobby, along with well furnished community rooms on each floor.
