Abbott Ireland Diagnostic Division - Longford:
The Longford facility plays a vital role in meeting Abbott's growing global demand for diagnostic testing across areas such as infectious disease, cancer, thyroid, and cardiovascular care.
Located in Ireland's midlands, Longford offers a scenic setting surrounded by the River Shannon, Lough Ree, and the Royal Canal, along with a vibrant community rich in history, culture, and amenities.
We currently have an opportunity for Engineering Apprentice(s) within our Engineering Team, which will involve the following:
Primary Function
This role supports multiple business units within ADD Longford, contributing to a variety of Engineering projects.
Key Responsibilities
* Maintain and manage the ETMS task list
* Ensure all activities are carried out in a manner that protects human health, safety, and the environment, in compliance with Abbott EHS policies, global standards, and regulatory requirements
* Participate in on-the-job training to support apprenticeship programme objectives
* Provide technical and/or operational support to Engineering teams as required
* Review existing processes and contribute to the development of innovative solutions that drive cost efficiencies
* Support business excellence initiatives and the implementation of key projects
* Promote and actively contribute to a culture of continuous improvement within Engineering
* Collaborate effectively as part of cross-functional teams
Reporting Structure
* This role operates as an individual contributor, working independently with minimal supervision
Education
* CAO applicants - minimum 169 points, Pass (Grade 06 or better) in five ordinary leaving cert subjects, two of which must be maths and a language (English or Irish). Leaving Cert Applied is not suitable
* Cognate QQI-FET Level 5, 7 applicants plus leaving certificate Maths
* Mature students (over 23years) do not require a leaving certificate but must pass a company interview
