What will you do?

As an Electrical Apprentice, you will support the installation, maintenance, testing, and troubleshooting of low- and medium-voltage electrical power systems while working under the supervision of licensed electricians and senior technicians. This role provides hands-on learning opportunities across power distribution equipment and customer sites, with a strong focus on safety, quality, and skill development.

You will gain practical experience supporting commissioning activities, routine maintenance, documentation, and customer service while progressively expanding your technical capabilities throughout your apprenticeship.

Key Responsibilities

Electrical Installation & Technical Support
* Assist with the installation, inspection, testing, and maintenance of low- and medium-voltage electrical power systems, including switchgear, switchboards, transformers, circuit breakers, motor control centers, VFDs, cabling, metering, and backup power systems.
* Support startup, commissioning, and service activities under direct supervision.
* Perform wiring, conduit installation, equipment mounting, and connection to power sources in accordance with drawings and safety standards.
* Assist with troubleshooting electrical issues and emergency service calls as part of a team.
* Support routine testing activities such as inspections, metering, and basic electrical measurements.

Documentation, Tools & Operational Support
* Complete required documentation, service reports, and checklists accurately and on time.
* Maintain tools, test equipment, and work areas in a safe and organized manner.
* Work collaboratively with technicians, supervisors, and project teams to meet customer and project requirements.

Safety, Training & Professional Development
* Follow all safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements at all times.
* Participate in on-the-job training and formal apprenticeship development activities.
* Demonstrate a strong commitment to learning, quality, and continuous improvement.

Location: Supporting the Ottawa ON area

What will you need to succeed?

Education & Apprenticeship:
* Electrical Apprentice.
* Enrollment in, or completion of, an Electrical Techniques or Electrical Engineering Technician diploma or equivalent combination of training and practical experience.
* Actively working toward 309A Construction and Maintenance Electrician certification is desirable.

Technical Exposure:
* Basic understanding of electrical systems, components, and tools.
* Exposure to low- and medium-voltage power distribution systems is an asset.
* Ability to read and interpret basic electrical drawings and schematics (with guidance).

Competencies:
* Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn.
* Ability to follow instructions and work safely under supervision.
* Good communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
* Comfortable working at customer sites and in industrial or commercial environments.

Additional Requirements:
* Ability to travel to customer sites as required.
* Ability to lift and carry tools and equipment (up to approximately 50-75 lbs with assistance as needed).
* Must be able to distinguish various colored electric components.
* Valid and unrestricted G/Class 5 driver's license is required to participate in the Siemens Fleet Program and to operate a company vehicle for travel to customer sites within assigned region(s).
* Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous learning.

Assets:
* Exposure to CSA, CCOHS, or IEEE standards.
* Experience or interest in data centers or critical power systems.
* Completion of electrical safety training.
* Bilingual (English/French) communication skills.
