CREAF is seeking a research technician to join the Pyrenees4Clima team at CREAF. The candidate must have demonstrated expertise in the study of socio-ecological systems and complex systems analysis, with the ability to understand and model interactions between environmental, social, and economic components. The candidate should be skilled in interdisciplinary approaches, capable of working across scales, and experienced in applying systems thinking to address climate change challenges, particularly in mountain regions. Knowledge of resilience, adaptation processes, and stakeholder-driven dynamics will be highly valued.
Pyrenees4Clima (P4C) is a cross-border initiative aimed at strengthening climate resilience and sustainability across the Pyrenean region. The project focuses on addressing climate change impacts through research, innovation, stakeholder engagement, and policy development, with special attention to mountain ecosystems and communities.
A full-time contract is offered (37.5 hours per week) with planned incorporation in August 2026. It will last at least 12 months, with the possibility of extending it if required and the budget allows. The offered salary is EUR 33.494,52gross per year (corresponding to category T3A).
MAIN FUNCTIONS:
The main responsibilities of the position include:
* Collecting and integrating environmental, social, and economic datasets from publicly available sources and data generated by project partners, ensuring spatially explicit coverage at the level of OPCC regions over the past 20-30 years, depending on data availability;
* Modelling the relationships among system components across multiple regional scales using quantitative approaches, including structural equation modelling and dynamic models; and
* Developing a decision-support tool that translates modelling results into actionable insights to support climate adaptation and strategic planning within the Pyrenees 4 Clima project.
* Attendance and support at technical project meetings, and liaison at both the Catalan and European level on the afore mentioned topics.
* Any other duties or tasks that, by their nature, may be assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
* Degree on a topic related to the current project description preferably in the field of life sciences: Biology, Environmental Sciences or other fields within the environmental sector.
* Experience in analyzing complex social-ecological systems.
* Proved experience in modeling systems dynamics.
* Previous experience in database management.
* Advanced knowledge of statistics (in R).
* Proficiency in written and spoken Catalan, French, English, and Spanish.

SELECTION PROCESS AND CRITERIA:
