The Mental Health Professional III works with a dynamic, interdisciplinary team of emergency room and psychiatry providers to provide high quality, patient-centered care. As an independently licensed professional, this role performs psychiatric assessments and first evaluations for involuntary commitment (IVC) both in-person and via telehealth. Once the patient is evaluated, the Mental Health Professional III collaborates with emergency room physicians and psychiatrists to make level of care determinations, and coordinates treatment/discharge plans. Professionals in this role also serve as a resource to the broader care team by assisting with de-escalation in crisis situations, guiding them through the IVC process, and providing information about inpatient hospitalization and community resources.

Job Summary and Qualifications

The Mental Health Professional III role will deliver exceptional psychiatric treatment to patients and their loved ones. The position prioritizes the satisfaction of their patients by offering patient-centered and high-quality care. The responsibilities include evaluations, psycho-education, group activities, planning for treatment, mapping out discharge, and providing therapeutic counseling help. They work to produce positive outcomes for their patients by using verified techniques in one-on-one, family, and group counseling sessions.
What will you do in this role:
* Maintains effective communication with patients, families, multidisciplinary teams, and continuum of care providers.
* Maintains professionalism and uses good communication skills to interact with peers, staff, patients, and families, and resolve conflicts.
* Demonstrates knowledge of and ability to maintain clear professional boundaries with peers, patients, and families.
Provides education and guidance about state commitment processes, abuse reporting requirements, the duty to warn, and guardianship processes.
* Demonstrates knowledge and role in hospital codes.
* Serves as an educational resource to patients, families, interdisciplinary team members, payer representatives, and other parties as appropriate about behavioral services.
* Reviews, coaches, and helps with the training of new staff/interns as assigned within approved practice and program guidelines. Participates in developing department goals and clinical programming.
* Performs utilization review as assigned.
* Helps with Process and Quality Improvement initiatives.

What qualifications you will need:
* Required Education: Master's Degree in Social Work or related field
* Required License/Certifications: Currently licensed as one of the following professionals: LCSW, LPC, LMFT, LMHC, LISW, LICSW
* Certificate: BLS Healthcare Provider (within 30 days of employment), Crisis Prevention Intervention (within 30 days of employment)
* Preferred Experience: Experience in mental health or related field
