Role Summary

At Rivian and Volkswagen Group Technologies, we're re-imagining what mobility can be. The Intelligent Camera, Imaging, and Vision team is at the forefront of leveraging cutting-edge camera sensors and high-performance computing to deliver rich features and exceptional user experiences.

In this internship, you will be a key contributor to the software development, integration, and validation of vision-based features on state-of-the-art compute platforms. You will work alongside world-class engineers to help build and test innovations from concept to actual product. We are looking for curious, hands-on interns who are eager to dive deep into one of several specialized domains within our software stack.

Responsibilities

* Drive the design, development, and debugging of system software for Camera, Imaging, and Computer Vision features on Linux-based Embedded systems, leveraging the mentorship and technical guidance of senior engineers.
* Contribute to the implementation and testing of software across one of our core focus areas:
* Imaging Pipeline: Work on drivers, sensor configurations, SerDes, and ISP tuning.
* CV Pipeline: Help implement and integrate computer vision algorithms.
* Optimization: Assist in parallel computing tasks using OpenCL or GPU-specific optimizations.
* Rendering: Utilize OpenGL for real-time visualization and graphics requirements.
* Video Pipeline: Support the development of high-performance streaming and recording features.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to help deliver scalable end-to-end software stacks.
* Deliver clean, documented code and participate in technical reviews.
* Stay open-minded, embrace the ambiguity of complex problem-solving, and learn to navigate a fast-paced, high-performance environment.
Qualifications

* Educational Background: Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electronics, or a related technical field.
* Foundational Coding: Strong hands-on experience with C/C++ and a solid understanding of data structures and memory management.
* Domain Interest: Demonstrated interest or academic projects in at least one of the following:
* Computer Vision (OpenCV)
* Graphics/Rendering (OpenGL)
* Embedded Systems (Linux/RTOS, I2C, SPI)
* Parallel Computing (OpenCL, CUDA)
* System Knowledge: Familiarity with the camera processing pipeline (from sensor to screen) or video streaming protocols is a plus.
* Hardware Curiosity: Basic understanding of hardware interfaces (MIPI/CSI, Ethernet) or driver models is an advantage.
* Soft Skills: Ability to prioritize tasks with efficiency, document technical work clearly, and thrive in a collaborative team setting.
