Flexible. This internship is designed to be full-time and in person but can be adjusted based on the needs of the successful candidate.

Duties and Responsibilities
The Partnerships Unit (PU) is the licensing, audience intelligence, and marketing unit in the News and Media Division (NMD). The team's work includes rights management, renewals, and technical delivery of NMD-produced content; collection and analysis of audience intelligence that guides editorial planning and inform leadership on market trends; and supplying distribution-ready promotional toolkits for NMD products and services. The team also represents the Division at high-level events, conferences, local and international media markets. This internship is in the Partnerships Unit, Digital and Promotion Branch (DPB), News and Media Division (NMD), Department of Global Communications (DGC). The Intern reports to the Chief of the Unit. Under the supervision of the Chief of Unit, the intern will assist a designated staff member to: - Support the review of historical research efforts to help identify data gaps and contribute to the development of a standardized, reusable research framework for departmental initiatives. - Assist in compiling a centralized directory of secondary data sources and contribute to building a toolkit for collecting primary research and audience insights. - Contribute to organizing research inputs into a structured Market Intelligence Template and supporting documentation (e.g., SOPs) to promote consistency in analysis. - Assist in developing and testing an LLM prompt library (e.g., for Microsoft Copilot) to support the synthesis of market reports and the exploration of audience personas. - Support the development of a "Search Demand" module within the template to help identify audience interests and inform content planning. - Assist in reviewing and documenting visual and creative trends (e.g., thumbnails, titles, engagement techniques) used by comparable organizations. - Contribute to ensuring that research approaches consider diverse and underrepresented audience perspectives.

Qualifications/special skills
Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor's degree or equivalent). Applicants must also: -Be computer literate in standard software applications - Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the UN Charter -Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views. A completed online application (Cover Note and Personal History Profile) is required. Incomplete applications will not be reviewed. Applicants must be a student in the final year of the first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Master's or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have completed a Bachelor's, Master's or PH.D. Demonstrated proficiency in using online and offline research tools is required. Demonstrated proficiency in using generative AI, including advanced prompt engineering, is desirable. Familiarity with data visualization and market analytics tools (e.g., Statista, GWI, Tableau, or SimilarWeb) is desirable. Experience with primary research methodologies, including survey design and qualitative/quantitative data analysis, is desirable. Experience in digital content strategy or competitive auditing across major media platforms (e.g., YouTube, TikTok, or Podcast networks) is desirable.

Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this post, fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another UN official language is desirable.
