Internal Logistics Improvement

The organization of internal logistics determines how materials flow in a manufacturing plant, which in turn impacts a number of critical metrics, from WIP value to Throughput Time to DII (Days in Inventory). Equally importantly, a smooth internal logistics system is an enabler for levelling production over time, and therefore for sustaining a lean manufacturing process.

The purpose of this project is to optimize internal logistics in Jabil's manufacturing site in Mezzovico. Namely, this means designing a system that:

1) ensures the correct prioritization of batches between operations;
2) minimizes material handling and wait time
3) eliminates unevenness in the flow
4) integrates with the ongoing digitalization of the factory.
The project will launch in a specific production area, and then enlarge its perimeter as time allows.

The expected development will be:

mapping and analysis of the current state design of the future state implementation of the future state monitoring of success.
Each phase will be executed with the support and supervision of the Lean Six Sigma team and will involve close collaboration with Production and Supply Chain Management.

Leading this project will require:

* An analytical mindset
* The ability to think out of the box and to reimagine the status quo, openness and will to communicate
* A hands-on attitude and a good amount of common sense and practicality.
* Previous knowledge of Lean Manufacturing practices is not mandatory; an interest for the topic is.
