Meet the Team
As an Optical System Engineer with strong background in optical communication and signal processing at our location in Nuremberg you will strengthen our Transceiver Development team. Cisco Optical is developing subsystems for high-speed optical networking applications in Cisco's optical transmission and routing products. The current product portfolio includes advanced 100Gbps, 400Gbps and 800Gbps optical transceiver modules for mass-scale Datacenter and Campus applications.
We focus on high speed, high performance optical system interfaces for cost-effective high-density system applications in Cisco differentiated by fulfilling specific Cisco requirements. Our core competencies are in digital signal processing (e.g. equalization) mixed signal design (e.g. converters and interfaces) detection algorithms (e.g. FEC) using advanced technology (e.g. optical and ASIC technologies).

In the Transceiver Development team, we focus on requirements and architectures of next generations optical interface. In addition, we develop and investigate signal processing algorithms enabling highest product performance and quality

Your Impact
* Translate product requirements to design and component requirements.
* Define system architecture including evaluation of enabling technologies, both hardware and software.
* Create simulation tools for investigation the application and performance impact of component parameters. This also includes definition of calibration algorithms enabling highly efficient manufacturing
* Perform and assist in manufacturing testing activities and ensure product delivered aligns with product requirements and customer expectations
* Serve as reviewer of technical documentation in support of product development and release.
* Assist and lead in some early product demonstrations to customers
* Plan and direct advanced, innovative technical projects
* Pursue new technology for product suitability

Minimum Qualifications
* Experienced in optical transmission systems and a strong background in communication theory.
* Master's degree in electrical engineering
* Knowledge in optical components and measurement technology plus knowledge in creating and using simulations tools.
* Knowledge in Matlab and Python

Preferred Qualifications
* Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics, or a related technical field.
* Demonstrated experience leading feasibility studies and joint development projects with industry or academic partners
* Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
* Proven ability to drive innovation and collaborate effectively in international, cross-functional teams
