I wish I had known...
Absolutely nothing. I believe that the fun of having a new experience involve the ignorance of the new place you are going to live. Otherwise you know what you are going to see.

Personal recommendation
The best of this university is probably the fact that is in the way of building a complete new campus with new facilities a new schools, but so far I can say that the library is one of the biggest I have seen in UK and much better than the ones in universities like City university or London School of Economics.

Final comments
If you are an student planning to study a degree in UK and you can afford social life, my advice is that you should get involve in any kind of activities that the university arrange for the students. It is the faster way of knowing people, and if you organise your time will not affect your studies. English people are basically friendly but probably you should do the first move. Do not get all the time involve with people from your country or other countries (no UK), because one of the reasons for studying abroad is to learn the language. The best people to learn from are the English ones although they do not tell you that you have made a mistake because they think it is rude. If you are planning to travel around your best colleagues will be other foreign students, the English are thinking in going around more than travel throughout UK. When you go out be careful drinking because the English way is quite fast and if you want to be at the same level you will get drunk very early.
